Folio (36.0 x 26.5 cm). pp. [i: 1-72; 2 (1880): 73-183 (184 blank); iii: 185-328]; 24 fine, lithographed plates [i: I-VI; 2: VII-XVI; iii: XVII-XXIV]. Original, uniform printed wrappers. = The complete first three parts of a series written by the German palaeontologist Wilhelm Heinrich "William" Waagen (1841-1900) on Permian faunas from present-day Pakistan, which comprises of seven parts on fish and various invertebrate groups. This section contains the fish, and all molluscs (gastropods, bivalves, scaphopods, cephalopods). The plates show numerous fossils, most of which are new. in the second volume, number "2" was used insted of the more logical "ii". Uncut. Edges a bit worn. Small stamp "don de M. Albert Gaudry", i.e. the French palaeontologist Jean Albert Gaudry (1827-1908) on the front wrappers; next to an oval stamp Bibliotheque du Muséum; and the first wrapper with a handwritten dedication by the author "Mons. le Prof Gaudry Hommage de l'auteur". Wrappers soiled and with considerable wear, especially to the spine covers; internally, however, very good, clean. Nissen ZBI, 4298.
