About This Item
London : Black Dog Publishing, 2010. Book. Fine. Hardcover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Hardcover. Condition: Fine, binding sound, no inscriptions. 191pp. Many colour illustrations. Simon Lewty (1941-2021) came to prominence in the early 1980s as a figure in the short lived revival of New Image Painting that took place at that time, partly in reaction to two decades of conceptual art. However Lewty's work tends to elude categories. This monograph is the first detailed study of his art and presents an insight into his ideas and working methods as well as evaluating his development over four decades. The book brings together a group of critical essays and texts by Cathy Courtney, Jessica Dubow, Paul Hills, Ian Hunt, Peter Larkin, Susan Michie, Stuart Morgan and the artist himself..
