FINE. LEATHER BOUND. This limited First Edition Society volume is bound in rich brown full leather with gilt decorations on both front and rear boards. The classic hubbed spines of four raised bands have gilt text and decorations stamped in the five compartments. Tangerine-colored moire end papers have a sewn-in silk ribbon bookmark. Pages are edged in gilt, thread-sewn for strength and durability, have long-lasting, acid-neutral, archival quality paper and a handsome, readable typeface. Clean, bright, tight. With illustrations by noted and much beloved husband and wife team, Leo and Diane Dillon. Poems written while the author was in college to his time in Tuscany. "Now many people keep records, but not usually of such an oblique and distorted variety, a peculiar amalgam of fact and fiction. And always, there is an unwritten poem behind the written one, more literal or perhaps dreamed up. Whether the poet knew it or not," (R.P.Warren).
