About This Item

Philadelphia: David McKay, 1885. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition by this publisher. 12mo. viii, 9-508, [4 ads] pp. Brown decorative cloth. Modest general wear and a bit of light staining including ink spots on the foredge and the last 50 or so pages with a tiny faint marginal tidemark, slight evidence of erasure on the front fly, very good and sound. Briefly Inscribed by "The Happy Warrior," politician and presidential nominee Alfred E. Smith, on the front fly: "Kindest Regards / Sincerely Alfred E. Smith." How this came about is anyone's guess.
