About This Item

Constantinople, Reuven & Nissim Ashkenazi, 1748. . First edition. Folio; [3], 3-190, 7 ll. 18th-century style calf boards, gilt, edges rubbed, small marginal tears and very slight warming to few leaves.
Rabbi Yonah Navon (1713-1760) served as a Rabbi, educator and head of two Yeshivas in 18th century Jerusalem. He went on fund raising missions to Greece and Turkey, which were customary at the time, in order to raise funds for the struggling Jewish communities in the Holy Land. While in Constantinople he brought the book offered here to print. It contains two parts under one title. A questions and answers work about the Arbah Turim (often called simply the Tur) is an important Halakhaic code composed by Rabbi Jacob ben Asher, also known as Ba'al HaTurim.
Vinograd (Const.), 544; Yaari 415, p.204.
