Regensburg: Montag und Weiss, 1803.. 124pp. Narrow small octavo (18 x 9.5 cm.) Contemporary unprinted drab yellow wrapper, edges largely untrimmed and unopened. Wrapper somewhat chipped and soiled, soiling to fore-margin of title, narrow splits up the spine panel, pale tidemark affects the lower margins of about 60% of the text block, but a near good, sound copy. First edition of a mid-career drama by the German novelist and playwright. Bornschein wrote for a popular audience and is noted for having employed the theme of piracy as the basis for several of his works. The title of this work translates as THE PIRATE KING.
