First Edition Sheets And First Edition Red Cloth Binding With 1902 Date On Title Page, But 1902 Sheets Bound With 1910 Catalog At Rear. A Philosophical Fantasy, With A Starring Mermaid. Probably Wells' Least Successful Work, Now More Appreciated. A Stunningly Fine Copy, Absolutely Bright, With A Trace Of Bumping At Edges. This Is The Copy Which Belonged To Wells Fan And Indiana Poet And Novelist George Barr Mccutcheon, With His Personalized Engraved Bookplate On The Front Pastedown. There Is Also The Attractive Bookplate Of Anne J. Smith On Ffep, With A Naked Eve Holding An Apple In Which Lies A Tiny Book. The Book Is Enclosed In A Custom Half-Leather Case, With A Cloth Sleeve ( A Matching Case With Men Like Gods Is Also Available). Nice Copies Of This Book Are Apparently Rarer Than Even His Sf Classics.
