About This Item
Japan, Scroll Painting, E-maki E-maki or scroll painting is a peculiar form of painting to develop a story by successive scenes that appear one after another as the scroll is unrolled from right to left. The original was probably painted in the twelfth century by a buddhist painter who was a master of the brush. This scroll is a set of three hand rolls illustrating three legends relating to the shigisan temple. The scroll is in a box sized 5 1/2 in long and almost 2 in high. The scroll is in very good condition.. The scroll comes with an explanation in english and japanese.. Very Good.
