Collins, London, 1955. Reprint. Hardcover (1/4 Boards 3/4 Boards). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: Various. foreword by Lord Rowallan  Chief Scout. Colour illustrated frontispiece, and numerous black and white illustrations (and the occasional coloured plate) throughout the book by various illustrators. 1/4 red coloured backstrip with black coloured titles. 3/4 illustrated boards with white and red coloured titles, and pink coloured boards to the rear. A mixture of fiction (written by Arthur Catherall) and non-fiction from the 1950s with a scouting theme. The book is showing age and wear. Softening to the backstrip edges with bumping of the book corners  the underlying board is visible. Cocking of the spine with a little rubbing of the front panel but more pronounced rubbing of the rear panel. There has been a water stain to the lower left hand corner of the rear panel  please see photograph. Browning and scattered foxing to the textblock edges and age toning of the pages. Gift inscription to the top right hand corner of the free front end paper and foxing spots and handling marks are present (to the rear panel as well). Original bookseller's stick out to the lower right hand corner of the front paste-down. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall. 128 pages.. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Various.
