Chapman & Hall, 1952. 1st Edition. . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. First UK edition. 12 mo. 88 pp. Waugh's send-up of post WWII totalitarianism. Jacket art by John Piper. A very good book in a very good or better jacket, which is not price-clipped. Inscribed by Waugh on the front free endpaper: "John & Mary, with love from Evelyn." The gilt lettering on the book's spine is rubbed but still readable; endpapers browned. Jacket has rubbing to extremities, a closed tear to the rear flap fold, and light toning to the rear panel.
