'The Temple Dramatist's' edition. This edition first published in 1897. Two volumes. Bound in full straight grain morocco. Illustrated with monochrome frontispieces. This set features two plays by the Anglo-Irish playwright and Whig politician, Richard Brinsley Sheridan. These two plays are some of his best known works. 'The Rivals' is a comedy of manners set in the city of Bath, and 'The School for Scandal' is also a comedy of manners, depicting the scandalous plots of Lady Sneerwell. In the publisher's original straight grain morocco. Externally very smart with fading to the spine with rubbing to the head and tail and minimal loss to the head of the spine to 'The Rivals'. Bookplate belonging to 'Barbara Woodburn' to the front pastedown. Light scattered spotting to the front endpapers to 'School Scandal' Internally firmly bound to 'The Rivals' and generally firmly bound to 'School Scandal' with the frontispiece weak. Pages generally bright to both and clean to 'School Scandal' with occasional light spotting to 'The Rivals'. Very Good
