About This Item

London: J. Harris and Son, 1822. Second Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Publisher's original boards with printed illustrations to upper and lower covers and a maroon spine with gilt fillets. Moderately rubbed and darkened, worn at head, tail and joints, nonetheless showing well and holding firm and square. Contents tidy and clean and typically age toned, not showing any pen-marks save a neat old former owner name and note at the endpaper, which is slightly parting, but not excessively, hence the hinges are tight and secure. Size: 12mo (170mm x 110mm); collation: pp. viii, 120, iv (adverts), complete with an engraved folding map at the front, a wood-engraved title vignette and 84 wood-engraved illustrations on 28 plates. Thus a very good copy of a scarce work in its original state.
