Although driven by revenge, love is also in the cards for Scaramouche, the novel telling of his pursuit of a beautiful lady by the name of Aline de Kercadiou.

Sabatini is ranked among some of the greatest adventure novel writers of all time, including Dumas, Robert Louis Stevenson and Baroness Orczy. Scaramouche is considered to be his masterpiece, and according to many people, the most engaging and well-written adventure and historical novel of all time.
