About This Item

Philadelphia:: Westminster Press, 1959.. Book Club Edition.. Hardbound . BINDING/CONDITION: blue binding; the top edge tint is green; the spine is slightly slanted, otherwise a Very Good book, with a Very Good dust jacket.. 8vo (8.5 inches tall) . Description: Dust jacket art by Georgeann Helms. Carly is a junior in high school. She is timid and feels maybe her girl friends have outgrown her. But she is eager for life, and dresses up in her new outfit, purchased with her first earnings from a part time job -- a green paisley skirt and an off-the shoulder peasant blouse. When her mother asks why she is dressing up she replies, ''Something might turn up'' during the magical hours of Saturday night. And it does. A popular boys notices her and she becomes 'his girl'. Carly now finds herself part of the popular crowd, but she has misgivings, which prove to be well founded. In addition to her many Christian writings, Marjorie Holmes wrote novels, both for adults, and a few for teen readers, including Cherry Blossom Princess and Follow Your Dream as well as this one.
