New York: Prentice-Hall, 1954. First Edition, Second Printing. Hardcover. Near fine/very good. Signed first edition, second printing of Satchmo by New Orleans jazz legend, Louis Armstrong.. Octavo, 240pp. Gray hardcover, title in gilt on black spine. Illustrated endpapers. Stated "Second printing... November, 1954" on copyright page. Solid text block, faint toning to top and bottom edges, a near fine example. Includes laid-in card from the publisher asking for feedback on the book. Previous ownership inscription to front flyleaf, with name matching the laid-in envelope and the recipient in the inscription. In the publisher's dust jacket, $3.50 retail price, one short closed tear to front panel, a few chips to head of spine, some shelf wear. A very good example. Inscribed on the half-title: "Satchmo. To Mary + Bill. Was very glad to have met you. Thanks again for Hamlet. Best Wishes from Louis + Lucille Armstrong.
