Dark maroon buckram cloth with gold gilt lettering and with the front board also bordered in blind, 459 pages plus 10 pages of ads at the rear [for books to be issued September 8, 1903], tissue-guarded frontispiece. Reading/filler copy with binding cocked and worn with staining to the rear board, rear hinge badly cracked/nearly broken with staining to the adjacent portion of the rear paste-down, foxing to/near the frontispiece; but the story text is tight and clean. clph
