About This Item

Hamish Hamilton, London, 1975. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Good. 256 pages, index, bibliography, references, 16 colour and over 100 monochrome illustrations. Illustrated end page maps, colour illustrated dust jacket. This book, without descending into details appropriate to an exhaustive study, not only provides a full account of Johnsons's main traits and actions and accomplishments, but places him in the world in which he struggled to survive and which eventually he came triumphantly to dominate. Margaret Lane's accounts includes much that has hardly been touched upon by earlier biographers. The dust jacket is rubbed and chipped along both top and bottom edges, with a 0.5, and a 1.0 inch tear on the top edge of the front panel, and the protective laminate has started to bubble on the right-hand margin of the front panel. Nevertheless a good copy. Size: Quarto -- up to 12 " Tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 1-2 kilos. Category: Biography & Autobiography; ISBN: 0241892708. ISBN/EAN: 9780241892701. Inventory No: 0215117. . 9780241892701
