Quarto, pp. xxv, [1], 278, [2]; xiv, 286, [2]; xvi, 226, [2]; xiv, 290, [2]. Map frontispiece with tissue guard to each volume, plus 10, 19, 16 and 19 plates respectively and numerous illustrations within text. Publishers' original quarter parchment with gilt titles to maroon labels to spine and grey paper-covered boards. Bindings lightly soiled. Spines A little worn with and bruising at tips; boards bumped at corners with wear to edge. Endpapers toned with armorial bookplates to each front paste-down. Scattered light foxing mainly to text-block edge and endpapers. A far better copy than is usually found. Widely regarded as the best book on the subject; giving a comprehensive account of the rivers, pool's, loch's, extent of fisheries, flies and lures used, methods employed and variety and quality of catch. Illustrated throughout with full-page black and white photographs and numerous photo's within the text. With a full-page map to the fore of each volume (all four covering the whole of Scotland) with the rivers highlighted in blue.
