About This Item

David Bryce & Son, Glasgow 1888 Hardcover, 5¼" x 7½" Child's pencil scrawling to half-title page. Red-cloth bound boards with gold and black stamped design. Our copy has hand soiled covers. Book in GOOD condition Front and rear free endpapers both unceremoniously torn out. From author's Introduction: "The idea of this little book is to cast a few seeds here and there even among the hard paving stones in the city, where, on defiance of ironclad hoof and wheel, they may find a lodgment, and in spite of soot and 'chemicals' spring up fresh and green to remind the sons and daughters of Glasgow of olden times, and recall voices of the past that it may be well, amidst the din and bustle of the present, sometimes to listen to … a gathering of simple facts about Glasgow … that have been overlooked by historians"
