Orange cloth; gilt spine titles and front emblem; 8vo; 9.5 inches tall; x,164 pages with bibliography and index of first lines. No Flaws or Blemishes but minimal shelf handling and some age toning to the edges of the text block. Dust jacket in a clear Mylar sleeve has no flaws but faint age spotting on the inside flaps. Edited with an introduction by George G. Carey. First Edition, First Printing.
Ref jstor; Anderson. From a discovered manuscript of Revolutionary War era songs. They were assembled by an American privateer. Timothy Conner while he was held in England's Forton Prison. The manual contained coarse sailor songs, patriotic lyrics, lyrics about love, drinking, forsaken women, sex, violence, life at sea, navel battles... The editor supplies commentary for each piece. The preface conveys a lively portrait of Forton Prison.
