Washington D.C.: United States Navy Department - Hydrographic Office, 1943. Sailing Directions for Antarctica including the off-lying islands south of latitude 60 degrees. Hardback, Off whit ecloth with blue lettering to the spine an dfront board. xiii, 312 pages, Illustrated with photographs, panoramas, folding plates. Lacking the chart H.O. 2562, from the rear pocket. 9.25 X 11.5 inches. Externally the book is rather soiled an dgrubby. Inside all quite clean throughout, although a bit musty. Rear endpaper is spltting along the hinge, and the board is a bit slack. All complete and in good order, apart from teh missing map. The book has the name "Fuchs" written at the corner of the front board in red pencil in block capitals. And on the corner of the front free endpaper is written in pen" V.E. Fuchs (F.I.D.S. 1948/Scott Polar Research Institute,/Cambridge". It would appear to be Fuchs' handwriting, and his own copy. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket.
