For 12 yrs Chamberlin was the Russian correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor and describes the Soviet policy as . the intensified industrialism, the employment on a huge scale of forced labor under inhuman conditions, the cruel persecution of religion, and the desperate famine of 1932-33. Chamberlin says it was not his intention to focus on the negative aspects of the Soviet regime or minimize the genuine constructive achievements of the Iron Age but to present an uninhibited handling of the facts of his interpretation of them. Red binding, gilt lettering. Fading at edges, edge wear, top of spine splitting. Ft DJ flap glued to ft endpaper. .

Pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, with moderate foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges.

In overall good used condition with some minor signs of age, handling and storage - boards rubbed to edges with small chip to cloth at spine head. Binding tight and appears little read. Internally clean, no annotation or inscriptions; toning to page-ends but text and illustrations bright and clear throughout. Photographs available.
