Hardcover. x, 126p., small flimsy hardbound in 7x4.5 inch printed blond boards with black cloth backstrip, and enclosed in the pictorial dust jacket. Poor copy, but nothing's missing, the gaps between printed signatures are holding, find one gap bridged by an owner-applied piece of repair-tape; as for the ancient dampstaining in the gutters? pay no attention to it. The dj was difficult to save but was accomplished without catastrophe. Front pastedown (which has a small loss of endsheet) bears a small seller's fiche in Japanese. Text consists in three long excerpts from very old travellers' accounts. Reading copy, appears intended for students of Russian. Translator may have funded this edition to give his students something to read he approved of; at any rate notes are provided, for instance that an author's "Santalina" refers to the island of St. Helena.
