About This Item

London: Hamish Hamilton, 1953. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good Indeed. 8.5" by 6". Not Stated. The first edition of this illustrated memoir of Alan Moorehead's travels through Australia, enclosed in the original dust wrapper. A compelling memoir of Alan Moorehead's travels through Australia, including the uranium-rich Rum Jungle, a mine located in the Northern Territory of Australia.Alan Moorehead (1910-1983) was a war correspondent who lived in Australia, England, Italy, and France throughout his lifetime. He is the author of numerous popular histories, most notably two books on the exploration of the Nile. The first edition, second impression of this work, published the same year as the first impression. Containing an illustrated frontispiece portrait of Moorehead, numerous in-text illustrations, and a folding map. Collated and complete. Enclosed in the original dust wrapper.  In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with some light shelf wear. Original unclipped dust wrapper, with some age-toning to the extremities of the exterior and interior of the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. A few spots to the end papers, otherwise pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
