Includes black and white illustrations and plates with tissue guards throughout. Black and white fold out maps. Vol. I of two volumes. Deckled edges. Gilt upper text block edge. Pages are lightly tanned with mild foxing throughout. Mild cracking to gutters with exposed netting. Pencil inscription to front paste down. Moderate tanning bands and mild foxing to end papers. Gilt upper text block edge has darkening to corner. Moderate tanning to other edges. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. White mark to lower corner of front board. Small dent to upper edge of front board. Mild scratching to rear board. Moderate tanning to spine, which has mild crushing and wear to ends. Gilt to spine is notably darkening, but remains bright on front board.
