David McKay, 1939. Rufie ( as in Ruthie) gets a monkey from her Uncle who is a redcap at the railroad station. Every other page is a full page black and white illustration. Much of the story is written in dialect " Lan's knows mammy hates to do it, honey-chile". Inside pages fine. Red cloth cover with silhouette of Rufie and the monkey is faded and creased. Hard Cover. Fair. Illus. by Illustrated By Hestermary Janeway. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
