One of 25 copies specially bound by Susan Allix, quarto size, 45 pp., and inscribed by Susan Allix. The "Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam", translated by Edward Fitzgerald according to his first edition. The Rubaiyat captured the imagination of the literary world and has inspired countless versions, many by highly regarded artists.

This version, with a special binding and artwork by Susan Allix, uses embossed prints to present a tactile set of pages that use geometrically inspired shapes to interpret the poetry. Each page is a delight to both the eye and the touch.

___DESCRIPTION: Bound in full crimson leather with a gold-tooled geometric pattern interspersed with stars on the front, gilt lettering on the spine, fore- and bottom edges uncut, patterned endpapers, title page in brown with a small decoration in black at the top, 23 etchings in colour and two photographs printed from half tone blocks, each tissue-guarded and signed in pencil by Susan Allix, the Fournier text letterpress hand-set and printed by Lewis Rouse Jones on J Green white wove mould made paper of Imperial 140 lb HP; small quarto size (approximately 10" tall), with 45 French folded pages. Total edition of 75, numbers 1-25 bound by Susan Allix, this being no. 21, her signature is on the colophon page with an inscription "For Mimi and Arnold Elkind", Grolier Club members who were supportive of Ms. Allix and her work in the early days.

___CONDITION: Fine, with a strong, square text block, solid hinges, perfectly straight corners with no rubbing, the interior is clean and bright, and it is entirely free of prior owner markings. A stunning production in every way.
