New York: E.P. Dutton and Company, 1907. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo. [5], vi-xii, [1], 2-294, [2] pp. Blue publisher's cloth with gilt lettering and a polar bear in gilt on the front board, gilt lettering on the spine; top edge gilt. Lacks the dust jacket. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Gordon, a few maps, and with several woodcut plates by Edward Whymper, the celebrated author and traveler. With copious notes on seals and on various Inuit peoples that Gordon encountered during his travels. Notable wear to the spine's crown, a bookplate on the front pastedown and a pencil annotation or two in the textblock.
