About This Item
Philadelphia: Henry T. Coates & Co., 1898. Hardcover. Very Good. Book. 8vo - over 7¾. VG, x, 510 pp. Wey was a standard architecture and art tour guide -- or travelogue --to Rome in the latter part of the nineteenth century. This book was not so much used while traipsing around the Eternal City as much as before and after seeing the sights to get more in the spirit of what was to be seen or was seen and to heighten the reader's appreciation of the sights. It was profused illustrated with full page photo plates, 30 in all. This copy is in full leather and was obviously intended to be lovingly held onto long after the visit. Condition is very good. Interior is clean, with only some light foxing on frontis plate, rest clean. Gilding of foreedges bright. Binding is tight. Contemp. calf of boards relatively healthy. On spine it is somewhat dry, and gilded decoration faded. Shelfwear and chippping to upper tip. Thus interior fine condition, binding overall good. Photos can be furnished upon request.
