Published prior to the Centennial celebration of this event which was be held in Winnipeg in 1912, as stated in preface. No previous ownership marks. Old news clipping pasted to inside cover and front free end-paper with resulting toning. One or two spots of foxing, most especially to last blank leaf, [and there only at edges]. Cloth shows only mild age wear and slight darking at inside covers. A square, internally clean, tight and unmarked copy. Good..

Winnipeg - Russell, Lang and Co., 1909 Book. Good. Hardcover. An historical work on the settlers of Manitoba, Canada. This work isbased on the establishment of the Red River Colony of 1811 and events following the settlement. The expedition were lead by Thomas Douglas, a Scottish peer. He sponsored many of the immigrant settlements by purchasing land. Notable moments in this text include the Battle of Seven Oaks which was violence between theNorth West Company and The Hudson's Bay Company. The North West Company also hadThe Metis people on their side. This work tells the tale of the settlement from an historical and white point of view. George Bryce was a Presbyterian minister who wrotemany historical works, particularly on the Red River Colony. Condition: In a full cloth binding with gilt stamping to the spine and pictorial front board. Externally, generally smart with bumping to the extremities as well as to the head and tail of spine. A few light spotsto spine. Pictorial front board has faded considerably due to rubbing. Front hinge is slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned to edges. Spotting to endpapers and the occasional spot throughout. Overall: GOOD..
