About This Item

London: J. M. Dent & Co. 1893-1897. 8vo. English language. 60 volumes, published 1893-97. Green cloth with elaborate gilt 'Dumas' monogram and fleur-de-lys devices and lettering to spines and boards; decorated endpapers, top edges gilt, others uncut. Generally an unusually clean and bright set, inside and out, with minor rubbing to extremities, occasional minor marks to boards and light spots within. Rear board of 'The Chevalier D'Harmental' has some marks and water damage. Front hinge of 'The Horoscope', rear of 'The Page of the Duke of Savoy' (vol. 1) very weak. Some of the volumes' spines are sloped (e.g. both vols. of 'Ange Pitou', vol. 1 of 'The Companions Of Jehu', vol. 1 of 'The Queen's Necklace') but all generally look very good on a shelf. Illustrated with 180 black & white plates, including a frontispiece to each vol. A very attractive complete set of Dumas' most celebrated works. This is a very heavy set and will require additional postage. . Near Fine. Gilt Decorated Cloth. 1893.
