About This Item
T.C. & E.C. Jack, 1907. First Edition. hardcover. Willson, Beckles : Romance of Empire: Canada. London : T.C. & E.C. Jack, 1907. First edition/First impression. Color illustrations by Henry Sandham. Size is octavo (8vo), 8.375"/21.2cm h. Bound in publisher's cream cloth over boards, black lettering and ornamental frame to front board and spine, color illustration printed to cloth of both. Topstained in gilt; deckle fore- and tail-edges. Plain white endpapers. [I-vi], vii, [viii], ix-xi, [xii] pp prelim material, 1-304 numbered pp, [305/'x'] final page of index, [306-308] blank; 12 publisher's illus not paginated throughout. Condition notes: a battered but still-solid copy: spine slightly cocked, heavy wear and soiling to boards, spine ends rolled/corners bumped, modest loss of color to dramatic binding illus. Former owner's discreet bookplate to ffep; slight publisher's imperfection to tail hinge between front pastedown and ffep, cosmetic. Pages tanned but clean/unmarked, numerous (perhaps 30) pages show head corner turned down. Collated, all pages and illus confirmed present. A solid copy of old school (Edwardian) history. We personally inspect every book we offer.
