England / U.S.A: Batsford, 1968. This book is in two parts. The first by Anthony Bird, is an incisive account of Rolls-Royce cars from the earliest days, before Rolls met Royce, to the present day. Throughout he is at pains to compare the performance of the Rolls-Royce of the time with that of its contemporaries - thereby enabling the reader to appreciate the pre-eminence of the marque and to understand why the Company was able to survive the Wars and Depressions which put paid to many fine motor-car manufacturers. Part two consists of detailed specifications of all Royce, Rolls-Royce and Rolls-Royce built Bentley cars, from 1904 to 1964, which have been painstakingly compiled by Ian Hallows from Rolls-Royce Company records. His specification of each model includes the dates of major mechanical changes and the chassis numbers concerned. The superb collection of 250 illustrations from photographs and drawings is the most comprehensive ever to have appeared and is thoroughly worthy of its subject. The dust jacket is creased, edgeworn and chipped with closed tears but now has the benefit of a clear protective removeable sleeve. . 1968 Print of 1966 Second Edition. Hard Cover.
