London: Jonathan Cape. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo. Two volumes. 1967-1971. Brown cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Minor rubbing and bumping to spine ends and corners of both volumes. Dust jackets are price clipped but otherwise in near fine condition with little wear. Volume 1: xxvi, 641 p.p., [8 p.p. B&W photos]. Top edge red. Volume 2: [xx], 744 p.p., [8 p.p B&W photos]. Top edge black. In 1939, Robert Frost asked Lawrance Thompson to become his official biographer - on the understanding that no part of the biography would be published during his lifetime. The close friendship between these two men began in 1925 and continued until the poets death in 1963.
