Stated first edition on copyright page. The Jacket is Very Good, price clipped toning to the back panel, chips and darkening to the spine ends and some small closed tears along the edges. Signed and inscribed by the author , in 1956, on the front flyleaf. Second book and first novel from the author.
Synopsis
The Grimm's Brothers' fairy tale, The Robber Bridegroom, is retold through the lens of the American South in this Eudora Welty novel. Set along the Natchez Trace, the story tells of Rosamond, who was kidnapped away from her home by a bandit. The tale contains mistaken identities, the cruel stepmother, beauty, terror, sex, and violence - all the best that fairy tales have to offer.
