A Near Fine copy with a previous owner name and sticker on the front pastedown in a Very Good Plus unclipped dust jacket with light edgewear to the spine. This is Jackson's First Book. Jackson and her family lived in the community of Burlingame, California, an affluent middle-class suburb that would feature in this her first novel which like her later novels was characterised by her use of a realistic setting for a tale with elements of horror and the occult.
