Octavo, [6], 340pp. Green cloth, title stamped in yellow on spine. Stated "special limited Florida edition" on half-title and "first released in January, 1952" on copyright page. Solid text block, previous ownership inscription on front free endpaper, bumped top corner, a near fine example. In publisher's dust jacket, $4.00 retail price on back flap, faint sunning to spine, light shelf wear, a very good example. Signed by author on half-title, inscription reads "with best wishes, Marjory Stoneman Douglas." Marjory Stoneman Douglas (1890-1998) was a writer, women's suffrage advocate, and environmental conservationist focusing on the Everglades in Florida. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1993 for her environmental advocacy and restoration work.
