We believe the title translates to Chronological History of the Emperors, Popes, and the Council of Seven; first three volumes of an apparently incomplete set; Vol. 3 only through 12th century. Vol. 1 published 1789 by 'Nella Stamperia degli Eredi Pecchioni'; Vols. 2 and 3 published 1790 by 'Gaetano Cambiagi Stampator Reale' (Cambiagi was an important publisher in Florence at that time; Pecchioni had much fewer productions and it is difficult to learn anything about him); Italian text. In every other respect these volumes are identical, using the same typefaces, paper, endpapers and bindings; paper has watermark which is very hard to see, as it appears only partially in the upper left corner of some pages; edges speckled red; pastedowns handpainted with a floral pattern; bound such that there are no free endpapers, pages sewn directly to vellum; vellum smartly hand-lettered on each spine. Overall, vg (covers soiled, bowed, and rippled; spine ends bumped, crimped, and worn; edges darkening, esp. top edge; pages rippled; owner's name to each vol. on blank page before title; title on spine of Vol. 2 is faded or rubbed; top corner of p111-2 in Vol. 2 dog-eared; ); text bright and clean; 376pp, 287pp, and 287pp; final pages of Vols. 2 and 3 followed by a page of 'Errori Correzioni' (errata). A rare set in remarkable condition.
