London: George Harrap, 1910. First trade edition in the scarce deluxe binding. Wear to spine extremes and corners, slight spine lean, signatures on flyleaf, contents generally clean, VG. First trade edition in the scarce deluxe binding. Large unpaged quarto. Illustrated by Willy Pogany with 20 tipped-in color plates, also with full-page plates in black and white and in single colors, many drawings within the text which is printed in calligraphic style with subtle background designs, and each page with large illustrated borders, the title page with red and black title within an overall design in vibrant colors. In the publisher's binding of medium green cloth over beveled boards, the spine and cover with stylized gilt titles, the upper cover set with vignettes of a kneeling man and a sailing ship with embossed colors of green, mauve and yellow, t.e.g., illustrated endpapers. Generally considered Pogany's masterpiece.
