About This Item
London: George G Harrap & Co Ltd, 1926. Minor wear to the spine ends and corners of the dark red cloth-covered boards, but gilt titles on spine and monogram on front are still bright. Previous owner's gift message dated 1934 on f/ep. Otherwise a good clean tight copy of this novel. Originally printed in 1901, this is a later (1926) edition, part of the publisher's Pocket Edition of the author's selected works. The story, set in Canada, involves a lawyer who loses his memory after a drunken brawl and finds himself living in a remote village. The story was adapted for the movies three times, in 1915 and 1920 as a silent, and as a talkie in 1931, so must have been popular at some point. 324pp.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
