About This Item

Limited edition. In 1848, Lt Brewerton was ordered to travel the Old Spanish Trail to accompany an Army courier, Kit Carson. The object was to figure out a cross country mail route. Brewerton was 21 and Carson was illiterate. This book is Brewerton's account. The account was originally featured in Harper's magazine in 1853. There is a 2 page fold out map which mimics the front end pages. The book is near fine with only light toning on the end pages. The plain white dust jacket has edge wear and toning and a half inch paper loss on the bottom front and a quarter inch diameter hole on the back. Limited edition of 1400 copies of which this is 876.

About mark mcdonald

Book collector for over 30 years. I'm retired and ready to sell. I buy almost exclusively from estate sales and since I've lived in Dallas my whole life, I know the people and where to go. I am a low volume collector and seller and deal in higher quality books. I have a lot of signed and inscribed books. These signatures have not been officially authenticated, but I am confident in their authenticity so I will guarantee them in perpetuity if it can be reasonably demonstrated that the signature is incorrect. .
