Illustrated frontispiece (with browning to guard) and illustrations throughout the book have been drawn by various illustrators, not credited. Navy blue coloured cloth covered boards with self embossed decoration front panel. Gilt coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. A novel about politics in America in the early part of the 20th century where a railway lobby attempts control and New Hampshire state government in the early part of the 20th century. Softening of the back strip edges with a small chip to the lower edge. Bumping to the corners with the underlying board visible. Rubbing to the lower book edges and to the book panels. Sunning to the back strip. Uniform tanning of the text block edges and pages. Offset tanning and faint foxing to the end pages. Previous owners name to the top right-hand corner of the free front end page. Foxing splotches to the first few and last few pages of the book. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
