The text is prefaced with quotes by Tocqueville, Lacordaire, and Leo XIII. Translated by Emily M. Schossberger, with the author's Preface to the American Edition, dated "Munich/March, 1969." With an Appendix ("Liberal Catholicism," "Social Catholicism," "Christian Democracy"), an extensive Bibliography, and an Index.
