New York: George H. Doran Co., 1927. First U.S. edition. 15 full-page illustrations, including the frontis portrait of Lawrence by Augustus John; folding map at rear. Basically SEVEN PILLARS OF WISDOM edited for sale to the general public or, according to George Bernard Shaw," an abridgement of an abridgement." Light name and address on verso of frontis, light foxing to illustrations and opposing text pages, abrasion on front pastedown (under flap), otherwise very good to near fine. In the "Arab on Camel" version of the dust jacket (vs. on horse) with a few tiny chips on spine ends and corners, small skinned spot on camel's back leg on front panel, and internal evidence on jacket flap corners of old glue, otherwise very good or better.
Synopsis
The abrdiged version of Seven Pillars of Wisdom, which is the autobiographical account of the experiences of British soldier T. E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia"), while serving as a liaison officer with rebel forces during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turks of 1916 to 1918.
