Inscribed by Author. family tree, acknowledgements and abbreviations, Second World War Timeline, introduction by author and end notes. The text is illustrated with occasional black-and-white photograph. Photographic endpapers, showing bundles of letters tied. Brown coloured boards with white coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. Photographic dustwrapper with brown coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. The correspondence of the author's parents during World War II. Ken MacFarlane volunteered for the Australian Army in 1940, leaving behind a wife and two young daughters. For the next five years he and his wife, Eileen, wrote to each other at least weekly, at times daily. They wrote of their daily lives, Eileen evoking what it was like to be in the Australian homefront in the 1940s, while Ken told what it was like to be overseas away from his family. There is an inscription on the half title page reading "Dear Valda with love from Heather November 2011." Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [5], 6-224 pages,. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Dust Jacket is in very good condition, without tears or chips or other damage. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Book is in very good condition with minimal signs of age and wear..
