New York: Doubleday, Page & Co., 1920. Undetermined. fine. 1st US Edition. 404pp. 12mo with blue cloth boards and gilt lettering and decoration on front and lettering on spine. Boards have a bit of wear to corners and spine edges, otherwise bright and clean. Dust jacket has some chips and tears to edges, and two approximately 1" pieces missing from spine. Jacket also has a bit of wear and creasing to it (with a few pieces of tape on inside) fine The conclusion in "The Lingard Trilogy", preceeded by "Almayer's Folly" and "An Outcast of the Islands". The series was based on Conrad's experiences as a mate on the steamer Vidar. With the original, scarce dust jacket. 1920
Synopsis
Civil war rages between the native tribes of the Malay straits. Captain Tim Wingard sides with the Rajah Hassim. But as is the case with so much in the Far East, nothing is quite straightforward and events unfold by indirection.
