Garden City, NY: Doubleday Page & Co, 1920. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Slipcase. 8vo,( 8) 404, [8]pp. Beautiful First American Edition and True First Edition, preceding the English Edition. Bound in original publisher's navy cloth with titles stamped in gilt on spines and outlined in gilt on front board. Housed in quarter blue morocco and blue cloth slipcase with matching chemise. Previous owner's Armorial bookplate on front paste-down and inside slipcase. Square, tight and clean throughout. Quite mild rubbing to extremities. . One leaf has one small repaired tear with a couple of pages just starting to loosen but secure. Lacking dust-jacket. Slipcase has light shelf-wear and toned spine. A very pretty, well preserved collectable copy.
Synopsis
Civil war rages between the native tribes of the Malay straits. Captain Tim Wingard sides with the Rajah Hassim. But as is the case with so much in the Far East, nothing is quite straightforward and events unfold by indirection.
