A lovely first edition, first impression, of one of Joseph Conrad's last published novels, part of his touching semi-autobiographical 'Lingard' trilogy. The first edition, first impression of this work, in the first issue original green cloth binding.In the original unclipped dustwrapper.'The Rescue' is based on Conrad's experiences as a mate on the 'Vidar' steamer, following Captain Tom Lingard whilst he falls in love with a woman he rescues.Part of the 'Lingard' trilogy.Written by the early modernist Joseph Conrad, generally regarded as one of the greatest English language novelists of all time. In the original publisher's green cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. A few minor marks to the boards. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Very small bump to the bottom edge of the rear board. Minor spots to the top and fore edge. Small remnants of a label to the front pastedown and to the recto to the front endpaper. Dustwrapper is very attractive and well preserved just lightly age-toned with some scattered light marks. Light edgewear to the wraps. Small label to the tail of the spine to the reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
