About This Item
London: Ernest Benn Limited, 1927. Bound in the publishers fine weave black cloth with silver title label to spine. This is the special signed edition published on April 27th, 1927. There were 275 copies of Requiem printed on hand-made paper and SIGNED by the author of which this is Number 122 The first impression of the ordinary edition was published on April 28th, 1927 which makes this effectively the true first edition by one day. Book sits solid and square with all corners sharp. There is a spare title label tipped into the rear pastedown which is a nice touch and a characteristic of well made books from a bygone age. All pages are present and correct. Black cloth binding remains in very presentable condition. Unusually for a volume of this great age the handmade paper pages remain virtually free of foxing. A tribute to the quality used in the paper production no doubt. Housed in the plain cream dustwrapper which has light overall signs of handling and wear mainly to head and tail of spine otherwise in Good condition. A more than decent example of the dustwrapper now protected in a removable archival booksleeve to preserve its condition. A very nice SIGNED copy of this powerful collection of trench poetry full of poignant imagery which precedes the ordinary trade edition.. Signed by Author. First Edition. Very Good/Good. FIRST EDITION.
