Washington DC: GPO, 1852. Very Good. Disbound, 8vo, 17 pp. Folding lithographed map. Senate Ex. Doc. No. 110, 32d Congress, 1st Session.. First Edition. Reconnaisance of the southern Central Valley of California. The map is titled "Reconnaissance of the Tulares Valley made by order of Brev. Brig. Gen. Riley, commanding 10th Mil. Dept. by Lieut. G.H. Derby, Topl. Engrs. April and May 1850." Sheet measures 21 x 16.5 inches (very good condition, usual folds) showing Monterey Bay and the area to the south and east of it as far as the Sierra Nevada and Walker's Pass, with town called Warsaw where Fresno should be. Wheat, Gold Region, 150. PBA 2015 $660 including commission (in modern cloth & slipcase).
